Great location, good price for facilities. Pool, hot tub and tennis courts available free of charge. I originally booked to stay 2 nights and now by the time I leave I will have stayed for 12 nights. Very sociable backpackers but they state that the area outside closes at 11pm so at least people can sleep if they are not wanting to drink and there's other bars down the road that people can go to. You can bring your own drinks there which is great, wifi works well. Would recommend!!

Visited just at the end of summer. This place advertises itself as a backpackers but far exceeds the others I've been to whilst in NZ, great value for money with access to a spa, pool and discounted Bike Rentals which were taken advantage of. The hostel seemed to constantly have a great vibe as it was easy to make friends and the 11pm cut off made sure I could still sleep. Overall very happy with my stay and will be returning in the summer
Best value for money by far any where in northland New Zealand. The Bay Adventure. Tennis courts, in-ground pool, spa pool, self contained studious, shared accommodation to camping! This place has it all, not to mention the location of being in the heart of the World Famous Bay of Islands! (Fishing, Diving, Site Seeing etc) Tourist Capital of Northland New Zealand. Great stuff Josh and team, see you next time I’m in town!

Thank you for such an awesome experience. We mixed up our booking but they went out of their way to help out. It was my wife's first NZ trip and she absolutely loved it. Good rooms too. Got tennis courts, swimming pools and BBQ facility.

Our accommodation was perfect, we enjoyed the hot tub and rented bikes. staff were very helpful and friendly with lots of tips for viewing the city. we were some of the older people in this crowd but it was wonderful to see so many people able to meet and visit with one another!

Friendly, clean, social hostel just down the road from the beach and 10 minutes' walk from the centre of town. The room I stayed in was spacious and had plenty of places to charge phones etc. Free international landline phone calls are not something I've seen offered in a hostel before!
I came here at the start of December and didn't expect the next few weeks in The bay adventurer would be the best time I've had in NZ! They have a swimming pool which made mornings in the blazing sun more bearable and a hot tub for when it gets a little chilly at night, but the best part of the stay was the friendly and fun staff who got involved with the social vibe of the hostel. The only downside was they kicked everyone out at 11pm so we had to go to the local bars to continue the fun (which is understandable). Other than that, I would definitely recommend staying here! Thanks for the great time :)
Fantastic hostel, stayed in a 6-bed mixed dorm which was spacious and clean! Staff were great on reception throughout the whole experience; check in and out and even helped me book a tour and gave me info on the local area! Cleaning staff were all friendly and always looked like they were working hard, always seemed to be at least one member of staff all day! Very sociable hostel, with groups hanging out in the kitchen, courtyard or by the pool, was very easy to meet people! Only booked one night but ended up staying a few more!
We stayed at Bay Adventurer for several nights and really enjoyed it. Staff were friendly and the place has a great atmosphere.
You can chill in the pool/spa and even have a game of tennis all included in the price. WIFI was a nice bonus.
If you get time make sure you head to the Watangi treaty grounds for the full cultural experience!!
